Noir SMS Verification Opt-In
How Noir members request account-verification text messages.
This page documents how a Noir member consents to receive account-verification text messages. Because that consent is collected inside the Noir mobile app rather than on a public web form, this page reproduces the actual screen and its disclosures so the flow can be reviewed without installing the app or creating an account.
Noir is a dating and community app for Black adults, operated by Aggravated Artistry LLC.
The screen where consent is given
The following is an unmodified screenshot taken from Noir running on an iPhone. It has not been cropped, annotated or recreated.

How a member opts in
This is the verification flow Noir presents to a new member. Phone verification is being prepared as a step in registration; today a member reaches the same screen from Noir’s account settings. The consent mechanism is identical in both cases.
- A member creates a Noir account and verifies their email address.
- Before onboarding, Noir presents the “Verify your phone” screen shown below.
- The member enters their own U.S. mobile number. The field starts empty — Noir does not pre-fill it, and does not obtain numbers from any other source.
- Before any message is requested, the member sees the SMS disclosure reproduced below, together with links to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and SMS Policy.
- The member affirmatively taps “Send code.” That tap is the consent — there is no pre-checked box, and no message is sent until it happens.
- Noir sends one SMS containing a six-digit account-verification code.
- The member enters that code in Noir to confirm control of the mobile number.
The disclosure shown before any message is requested
This text appears on the screen above, directly beneath the “Send code” button, before the member taps it:
“By tapping Send code, you agree to receive an SMS from Noir for account verification. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help.”
What this program is used for
Noir uses this SMS program only for account verification and account security. A member supplies their own mobile number inside the app and affirmatively requests the verification code.
It is never used for:
- Advertising or promotional messages
- Marketing campaigns of any kind
- Purchased, rented or scraped phone lists
- Unsolicited messaging to anyone who did not request a code
Message frequency
Message frequency varies. Messages are only ever sent in response to an action the member takes. A member verifying a number normally receives one message. If that message does not arrive, they can request another code, which sends an additional message. There is no recurring or scheduled messaging.
Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Opting out and getting help
Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. These standard keywords are handled by Twilio, Noir’s messaging provider, for this messaging service. Noir does not operate custom keyword behaviour.
Opting out means Noir cannot deliver verification codes, so phone verification will be unavailable until the member opts back in. Help is also available by email at support@noirblackdating.com.
Example verification message
“Noir: Your verification code is [CODE]. This code expires in 5 minutes. Do not share it. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
Privacy of your number
Mobile information, including phone numbers and SMS consent records, is not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with service providers as necessary to provide account verification, security, fraud prevention and messaging services, or as otherwise required by law. A member’s phone number is never shown on their profile and is never visible to other members.
The full detail is in the Privacy Policy, under “Mobile information and SMS.”
